Smart door lock FAQ for Perth
Practical answers for Perth doors and Denler hardware — rewritten for Australian homes, not India retail FAQs.
What door thickness do Denler smart locks need?+
Most Denler models install on doors roughly 35 mm to 100 mm thick. That covers many Perth timber entry doors and common apartment doors. If your door is outside that range, or unusually narrow, send a thickness measurement when you enquire so we can confirm fit before quoting.
I have a security screen and a main door. Will a smart lock fit?+
Often yes, but clearance between the doors matters. As a rule of thumb, about 70 mm gap is needed when locking the inner main door only; locking both doors needs substantially more space. Photos of the door pair from the side help us advise before we book an install.
Can you install on steel doors?+
Some factory steel doors with a compatible mortise can take multi-bolt smart locks. Customised steel gates and many one-off metal doors cannot. We assess bolt pattern and existing mortise before proceeding — we will not force a fit that damages the door or voids practical use.
What warranty do I get in Perth?+
Warranty length follows the Denler model: many premium and mid-range locks are specified at up to five years on the lock (excluding physical damage), with entry models such as the F1 commonly at three years. Batteries typically carry a shorter warranty period. We explain the exact cover for your chosen model at quote stage and support claims through our local channel.
How long does the battery last?+
Rechargeable models commonly last about one to two months per charge depending on unlock frequency, camera or intercom use, and WiFi habits. Some AA-powered setups run longer between changes. Low-battery alerts and mechanical key override remain important — we cover both during handover.
Do smart locks work in a power outage?+
Yes for the lock itself: these are battery-powered on the door, so a house blackout does not freeze the deadbolt the way a hardwired electric strike might. App and cloud features need your phone network or local WiFi; fingerprints, PINs, cards and the physical key still work offline according to the model.
Do you drill the door?+
Yes. On suitable doors our technician handles drilling and fitting. Major cosmetic patching after removing old hardware is usually a separate carpentry or painting job if the previous lock left a large footprint.
Why are there no prices on the website?+
We quote in AUD for supply, install, or both once we know the model and door. Publishing cart prices without install context creates the wrong expectation for a fitted security product. Enquire and we will give a clear figure.
Are these locks suitable for Airbnb in Perth?+
Many hosts use PIN codes, time-limited access and app unlock so guests never need a physical key handover. Face and fingerprint models suit owner-occupied or long-stay setups better than high guest turnover — we help you pick the right feature set for short-stay operations.
Do you have locks for frameless glass doors?+
Yes. Models such as the Denler DS04 and DFS04 are designed for glass door applications, including no-drill options on suitable glass. Shop the glass category or enquire with a photo of the door.
Do any locks work with Alexa or Google?+
Several Denler models support Alexa and/or Google voice unlock where configured. Compatibility depends on the exact SKU and your home network — check the product feature list or ask us to confirm for the model you want.
Which suburbs do you cover?+
We service all Perth metro by appointment. Northern, southern, eastern and coastal corridors are in scope. If you are regional WA, send the location and we will confirm whether we can attend or arrange an alternative.
Send door photos with your suburb for a faster suitability check.
